Do you install epoxy flooring in Chicago?

A hundred-year-old Chicago slab moves, and rigid epoxy does not move with it. Many Chicago garages sit on the alley behind the house, often on the original slab. The Bungalow Belt alone holds about 80,000 brick bungalows, most of them from the 1910s and 1920s. A slab that has seen a century of freeze-thaw and road salt is usually pitted and cracked, so we grind it, repair what we find and put down a polyurea base that bonds at more than 400 psi on the basecoat data sheet, then a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. A detached alley garage counts as residential, so it carries the same lifetime warranty as an attached one.

In the bungalow belt the garage sits off the alley behind the house, on a slab that can be a century old. Those floors need cracks filled, pitting ground out and any old paint removed before the base coat, which is why a Chicago quote sits toward the upper part of our range.
